Dearest reader,
I’m truly honored that you’d like to meet me …
My professional background was as a journalist, communications consultant, media advisor and speech writer, based in Hobart, Tasmania.
As you can probably glean from that pedigree, I just love to write!
However, it’s only recently that I’ve altered course with the written word, turning my hand from news stories, media releases and the like, to fiction.
If I could succinctly sum up what else drives me personally, I would use two more (nice!) ‘f’ words. Fashion … and fitness.
Fashion is the passion that has underpinned my first book, Addressed.
I’ve always been a firm believer that you should ‘dress how you want to be addressed’, and that’s the key premise of my novel too.
For me, that means frocking up in a pretty, vintage-inspired dress on most days. (Yes – I’ve even done so for a quick trip to the tip with my husband to unload rubbish, or to accompany him to the hardware store!)
I just love how wearing a gorgeous (usually floral) fit and flare, or prom – or, indeed, any retro-inspired – dress makes me feel: pretty; feminine; confident; different. I adore how it can immediately boost my spirits and simply make me happy.
On the happiness note, I’m chuffed to report that I’m currently working on a second book which has fitness (specifically running) central to its storyline.
That’s another pursuit that makes me smile, as it has so many physical, mental and social benefits.
Personally, I’ve run many marathons and ultramarathons in Australia and overseas.
I live with my husband and a menagerie of native wildlife friends on eleven hectares in the bush, in the foothills of Hobart’s iconic Mount Wellington.
And when we’re not at our alpine haven, you can find us exploring the high seas aboard our floating home-away-from-home, our Alaska cruiser.
