Well, I’ve pinched myself so many times since Addressed was officially launched on 1 January, that you can still see the bruises!
To say that I’ve been incredulously delighted – and humbled – by its reception so far, is something of an understatement. I’VE BEEN BLOWN AWAY!
Firstly, a huge thank you to every reader who has placed their faith in my writing by buying a copy. I don’t take your financial investment and time commitment for granted.
And thank you to everyone who has given me a five-star rating, or a glowing review, or has sent lovely messages saying how much they’ve enjoyed my book. I’m over-the-moon with all of them. Truly.
Some absolute highlights for me so far, have included:
- Breaking into the Top Ten on Amazon Australia’s ‘Movers and Shakers’ list – at number eight with a bullet.
- Smashing into Amazon’s ‘Hot New Releases’ – at number 32, and
- Making a cameo appearance in popular ‘Who’ magazine’s ‘Books’ section.
On the local scene, I’ve also been chuffed to have done an extensive, live interview on Statewide ABC Radio and am tickled pink to report that I’ll also be featuring in Tasmania’s major metropolitan daily newspaper in the next little while (I’ll blog separately about that when the story runs).
At the same time, I’m super-happy that Dymocks bookstore in Hobart will be stocking the gorgeous, limited-edition copies of Addressed. (This special version features colour inside-front and inside-back covers. Pretty.)
I’ve also had some bespoke bookmarks printed and Dymocks will have a supply of them to give away with any purchase of my book.
So, there you have the ‘who’ (literally!) and ‘what’ of what’s been happening for me.
As to the ‘how’ and ‘why’, well that’s a little harder to pin down.
As I wrote, it all seems like something of an amazing dream. I still can’t quite believe it.
All I do know is that what you tend to get out of things is generally commensurate with the effort you put into them. And I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I gave (and continue to give) Addressed my all.
The pictures here are of my little mention in ‘Who’ magazine; my limited edition of Addressed and my bespoke bookmark.
Oh, and one of my blogs wouldn’t be one of my blogs without an entirely gratuitous image of me in a new dress! Ha! Ha! (I just adore its deep, rich shade.)
