Surfing Towards Book Two
Recently, I travelled to Sydney to join 79,999 other runners in the world’s biggest fun run – the 14 kilometre ‘City to Surf’.
The course travels from Hyde Park in the centre of Sydney to the finish line at iconic Bondi Beach, and is renowned for its fabulous party atmosphere as well as its incredible fundraising efforts for charity.
Fourteen kilometres is a pretty cruisy distance for me (despite the dreaded ‘Heartbreak Hill’), so the pressure was off and I could just soak it all up and enjoy the sights and sounds and, as its nature suggests, simply have some fun. (Having said that, I was still pretty stoked with my finish time of one hour and 12 minutes, particularly considering the congestion!)
The other – more serious, but equally rewarding – purpose of the Sydney trip was to collect the first big print run of my new book (The Runaways) and safely transport all those precious boxes back to Hobart.
Book Two will be officially launching mid-October.
